Volunteering at Listening Heart Crisis Center
At Listening Heart, we welcome anyone who is interested in becoming a volunteer. You must be at least 18 years old, though. If you would like to volunteer, please read the Volunteer Committment Agreement below before filling out an application .
If you agree to the Volunteer Committment Agreement, then fill out the online application and click. Once we receive your application, someone will email and/or call you to set up an interview. Please be aware that all applications are subject to the approval of our Executive Director and Staff, and that we can only accept a limited number of applications per training.
Fall 2011 training will be held starting Friday, Oct 21, 7 till 10PM and Saturday, Oct 22, 10AM till 6PM. Times will continue as follows: Friday, Oct 28, 7 till 10PM and Saturday, Oct 29, 10AM till 6PM. Additional training will take place during shifts.
Individual training sessions can be arranged by appointment with the Director. This training schedule entails 10 four-hour weekly sessions to include tutoring, exercises and training shifts in the crisis center. For more information, email us at cliff@listening-heart.org

Volunteer Committment Agreement

- I will attend all classroom trainings and training-apprentice shifts
- I will attend additional training and role-play sessions as required by the Listening Heart staff
- I will attend supplementary training programs and/or view recommended videotapes as long as I am an active volunteer.
- After completing training, I will maintain, to the best of my ability, a weekly, five (5)-hour shift until I have completed at least 220 hours
- I will participate in a Listening Heart mutually agreed upon support activity
- When I leave Listening Heart, I will formally notify staff or the professional director in writing
- I will keep all caller information, treatment, sessions and any other private information regarding callers confidential
- I will not disclose any of this information to anyone outside of Listening Heart and will only discuss pertinent information as required with Listening Heart staff
